Budgam, Mar 30: Two mutton shops were sealed while a fine of Rs 13,600 was collected during a marketing checking within municipal limits of Budgam district on Thursday.
An official told that in light of the holy month of Ramzan, a routine market check was carried out within the municipal limits of Budgam in collaboration with the executive magistrate.
The drive was headed by the Chief Executive Officer on the directions of the district administration.
During the checking, an amount of Rs 13,600 was realized as a fine.
The officials also destroyed a large quantity of rotten food items that were found unfit for human consumption.
These items were destroyed on the spot to prevent any further harm.
In addition to this, two mutton shops were sealed by the authorities for violating the guidelines and regulations related to food safety and hygiene.
The authorities have been taking strict measures to ensure that the markets remain free from any kind of unhygienic or illegal practices during the holy month of Ramzan.
The market checking is aimed at maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
Chief Executive Officer and the executive magistrate urged the shopkeepers and traders to strictly adhere to the guidelines and regulations related to food safety and hygiene to ensure the well-being of the consumers.
The authorities have warned strict action against those who are found violating the guidelines and regulations.(KNO)
