Handwara: The Jammu and Kashmir police Monday said that it has arrested a rape accused within hours after the complaint at Zachaldara area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A police spokesman said that on Monday Police Post Zachaldara received a written complaint from one person stating therein that his sister was raped by one person namely Parvaiz Ahmad Bajad son of Noor Din resident of Nagranar before two days when she went to collect firewood nearby store and thereafter threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone.
He said that accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 164/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation was initiated.
The spokesman said that a special team headed by SHO Handwara was constituted to nab the accused adding that the Police team after utilizing all available means and due to strenuous efforts arrested the accused person within hours of complaint received by police.
The accused has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, he said. The spokesman further said that community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood.
They can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue, he said.(KNO)
