Srinagar, June 05: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar on Saturday shot a letter to the Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department seeking action against a statement attributed to “Self styled DAK President” Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan published by some newspapers and portals regarding COVID-19 vaccination.
DC Srinagar Ajaz Asad in a letter to Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department, a copy of which lies with News Agency reads that “This is to bring to your kind notice that a statement attributes to Dr Nissar-ul-hassan (So called self styled president DAK) has been published by various news papers and News portals across the union territory of J&K on 02-06-2021, regarding COVID-19 vaccination, which reads as under; ‘If you are allergic to any component of the vaccine, your are advised not to take it. However, if you have history of allergic reactions that aren’t related to COVID-19 vaccine such as food, medicine, latex, insects and environmental triggers, you can have the vaccine’, ”.
The letter further reads “However, the above statement is antithetical to the scientific evidence. According to the fact sheet of COVIDSHIELD vaccine issued by Serum Institute of India, the vaccine ingredients are: L-Histidine hydrochloride monohydrate, Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate (EDTA), besides water for injection. Further the fact sheet of vaccine from Bharat Biotech (COVAXIN) reveals that its ingredients are: Aluminum Hydroxide gel, Imidazoquinoline, 2 Phenexyetonal and phosphate Buffer saline. These ingredients are often used in many other vaccines which are given in routine immunization of children and adults.”
So far 3323862 doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir as of 01-06-2021 and no severe/adverse effects of its ingredients have been detected in 99.99% beneficiaries, it said.
The said statement has created apprehensions among general public about the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines, such kind of un-scientific, un-researched statements lead to erosion of faith in the medical science and dampen the efforts to vaccinate the targeted population. Moreover any scientific judgment in these matters should emanate only from the authorized person/sources having command over the subject, reads the letter.
As such, it is requested to kindly issue directions to streamline the process of dissemination of COVID-19 information to the public through authorized person/source only. Furthermore , it is also requested , a serious note should be taken against such un-authorized acts, the letter added. (KDC)
