CBI searches 8 places including residence of Haseeb Drabu
Srinagar, May 10: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried out searches at multiple locations including residence of former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu for irregularities in purchase of J&K Bank’s integrated office at Mumbai during NC- Congress rule in 2010.
An official of CBI told that its sleuths carried out searches at eight locations including the premises of then chairman of J&K Bank Haseeb Drabu, then Executive Director AK Mehta and the then directors Muhammed lbrahim Shahdad and Vikrant Kuthiala.
They were members of the Estates Committee of J&K Bank when the office of J&K Bank in Mumbai was purchased.
During the searches, the CBI official said, incriminating documents, articles & electronic evidence, several bank account details and bank locker keys were recovered.
On November 11, 2021, CBI had registered a case on the allegations of irregularities in purchase of Akruti Gold building for Rs 180 crore by J&K Bank for its integrated office at Mumbai in 2010. The said case was referred by the J & K government to the CBI.
Last month, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the purchase of J&K Bank office at Mumbai, allegedly at an exorbitant price.
It is worthwhile to mention that Drabu was finance minister in the last PDP-BJP government. In December 2018, Drabu resigned from membership of Peoples Democratic Party, ending his four-year political journey with the party.(KNO)
