Rajouri, Nov 23: A man hailing from Udhampur district and wanted in a case of sexual assault on a specially-abled abled girl of nine years of age has been apprehended by police from near Line of Control in the Rajouri district.
The accused has been identified as Ishfaq Lone resident of Narsoo of tehsil Udhampur. Police said that a case of rape and sexual assault of a nine years old specially abled minor girl was registered against him in Chenani police station on 17 November and he was booked undr POCSO Act besides other relevant sections of law.
“Accused was absconding and evading his arrest and multiple teams were on job to nab him,” police said.
In the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, polic said a specific information was received that accused is present in a house on Line of Control in Beti Pattan village of Sunderbani in Rajouri district after which an operation was jointly launched by police teams of Udhampur and Rajouri districts.
“The suspected location was raided when the accused hiding there ran towards Line of Control to further evade his arrest but he was overpowered by cops and has been taken into custody,” said police. Police informed that the arrest of the accused is a big success as he was wanted in a serious offense case.
