Addresses condolence gathering of slain Adnan Lone

Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday addressed the people present at the condolence gathering for slain militant Adnan Ahmad Lone of Bandna.

Geelani, according to a statement , in his address said, “Policy of suppression and repression in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to yield anything for India. Through the elongated period of ordeal and barbarism since 1947, India is currently facing a powerful people’s political movement for the right to self-determination in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Referring to the sacrifices rendered by people especially youth “to end the forced occupation”, Geelani said, “More than 6 lakh people have been martyred and an economy worth trillions lost with the lakhs of injured, but Indian brutality and repression, through their local conduits, seems to have no end.”

Hurriyat (G) chairman said that New Delhi is suffering from the arrogance of power and has tried its best to muzzle the voice of Kashmiris but has utterly failed to do so.

“No power on earth particularly the Indian might can deter us from our much-cherished goal of right to self-determination,” he said.

Reiterating his poll boycott appeal, Geelani said that “participation in any election sponsored by Indian might amounts to treason and betrayal with martyrs’ blood and disgrace for sacrifices rendered by our nation”.

“We believe, any election process, India tries to conduct, is nothing but an armed drill to threaten the common people thereby strengthening its illegal control in the occupied land, but we are indebted to the sacrifices of our nation never to even think of any compromise and we pledge to take this sacred movement to its logical conclusion,” he added.

Hurriyat (G) chairman stressed upon people in general and youth, in particular, to strengthen the faith and be optimistic.

“By the grace of Almighty Allah, we will Insha Allah get rid of this forcible military occupation,” Geelani said.
