Children Hospital (Bemina, Sgr)

Won’t allow any encroachment as action against wrongdoers being mulled upon: Officials

Srinagar, Nov 28: Many people visiting Srinagar’s Primary Children’s hospital in Bemina have complained about encroachments outside the health facility saying that the occupancy by the vendors on the service lane is resulting in sight blockade on the highway road.

The visitors who have visited the hospital in the recent past told that the sight blockade on the highway can prove fatal, saying that the gathering of vendors, auto rickshaws and sumo vehicles obstruct the sight to take up the follow-up road – on the left side.

“It is very difficult while coming out of the hospital for both vehicle drivers and foot visitors as outside the hospital there is always a haphazard gathering which makes it difficult for the people either to cross or take a left turn”, said a group of visitors.

They said that the occupation of service lane roads and obstructing the sight of the highway by vendors are potential concerns for the patients, attendents and commoners alike.

Concerned over the occupying of the service lane, the visitors said that it was important to involve local authorities, law enforcement and the community to find solutions to address the issue at an earliest.

It is pertinent to note that earlier in the year, the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) carried out an anti-encroachment campaign to remove shanties that had come up outside the newly established Children’s Hospital in Bemina. However soon after the drive ended, the unscrupulous elements again went on to occupy the space in no time.

Meanwhile, the officials from the concerned department told GNS that they won’t allow any encroachments to settle outside the hospital premises.

“They said they are likely to carry out an anti-encroachment drive is being mulled upon and may be carried out this week only”, the officials said.(GNS)
