Srinagar, Sep 08: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that Centre had sent a Parliamentary delegation to initiate talks as Centre wanted peace in Jammu and Kashmir, but the Hurriyat leaders closed their doors.
Addressing a rally in Ramban, Singh, said that he spoke to then chief minister about how normalcy can be achieved and he had even agreed to withdraw cases against minors and innocent children.
He said that he had told the PDP chief that Centre wanted peace in J&K, but the Hurriyat leaders were not ready to meet them. “We brought Sharad Yadav and other senior leaders to negotiate with the Hurriyat, but the they closed doors to the visiting delegation.”
Singh said post-Article 370 abrogation, J&K has witnessed peace and nobody dares to carry a pistol in Srinagar or elsewhere.
He said that if voted to power, BJP will develop J&K further and make it a better State in the country. “Today, stones and guns have been replaced by laptops and bats. Now Kashmiri youths are chasing their dreams,” he said.(KNO)
