Srinagar, Dec 19: In a relentless efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs, Srinagar Police has arrested 04 drug peddlers and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.
A Police party of PS Kralkhud intercepted a vehicle (Etios) bearing registration number JK01AH-5637 at a checkpoint established at Kralkhud Chowk. The two persons onboard have been identified as Nadeem Shafi Kashani son of Mohd Shafi Kashani resident of Sathoo Payeen Barbarshah and Ashiq Ahmed Hundoo son of Late Gh Rasool Handoo resident of Abi-Karpora Dalgate A/p Hamdania Coloney Bemina. During search, 04 grams of Heroin was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Meanwhile, a Police party of Police Station Safakadal arrested two drug peddlers at a checkpoint established within their jurisdiction. They have been identified as Nabeel Showkat Zargar son of Showkat Aziz Zargar resident of Safakadal Haftayarbal and Shahriyar Ahmad Mir son of Mir Ishfaq Ahmad resident of Rathpora Eidgah. During search, 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate & 30 strips of Tapentidol (banned drugs) have been recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that J&K Police are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
