Srinagar, Jan 23: In a medical feat, GMC Associated Hospital in Handwara delivered a 5.1 kg baby boy, setting a new national record for the heaviest newborn.

The mother, despite facing challenges including meconium-stained amniotic fluid and a 6-year gap between pregnancies, successfully delivered the baby vaginally.

The dedicated medical team, led by Dr. Javeed Munwar and Dr. Insha, ensured a safe and healthy delivery. The newborn was born with an Apgar score of 8/8, indicating excellent health. This achievement highlights the hospital’s expertise and sets a new benchmark in healthcare delivery in India.(KNS)
