Srinagar, Jan 06: Continuing its efforts to contain the drug menace in the society, Srinagar Police has arrested a drug peddler in Khanyar area and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A police team from PS Khanyar, while patrolling at Naid Kadal, intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Hilal Ahmad Sheikh, son of Paroz Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Zahid Pora, Hawal, presently residing at Shah Colony, Parimpora. Upon search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession.
Subsequently, a case FIR No. 06/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Khanyar, and investigation initiated.
The accused person has been arrested.
During the course of the investigation, the accused disclosed details about the storage of contraband at his rented accommodation in Parimpora, leading to the recovery of more quantity of contraband substance, cash amounting to ₹6,100, and one mobile phone.
The investigation is going on and further recoveries and arrests are expected as the case progresses.
