Riyadh, Feb 26(QNS): The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has officially called upon residents to sight the crescent moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan on the evening of Friday, February 28, 2025, corresponding to 29 Sha’ban 1446 AH.

In an official announcement, the court urged all Muslims across the Kingdom to observe the sky for the Ramadan crescent, either with the naked eye or through binoculars. Those who spot the moon are requested to report their sighting to the nearest court and register their testimony. Alternatively, they may contact the nearest center to facilitate their access to the court.

The sighting of the crescent moon determines the start of Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims worldwide. Saudi authorities rely on verified moon sightings to officially declare the beginning of the month.

The Supreme Court’s call aligns with Islamic tradition, which emphasizes the importance of moon sighting in determining the lunar calendar. The Kingdom’s religious and astronomical bodies will analyze the reported testimonies before making an official announcement regarding the start of Ramadan.

Muslims around the world are eagerly awaiting the confirmation, as the holy month is a time of deep spiritual significance, marked by fasting from dawn to dusk, increased worship, and charitable acts.(QNS)
