10 kg of free ration per person will be provided to AAY beneficiaries from April 1, 2025
Jammu, Mar 07: The Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while presenting the Budget 2025-26, announced a series of welfare measures aimed at improving the lives of economically weaker sections.
Among the key announcements, families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) will receive 200 units of free electricity, ensuring relief for low-income households. Additionally, 10 kg of free ration per person will be provided to AAY beneficiaries from April 1, 2025.
The budget also introduced several women-centric initiatives, including free ridership for women in government buses starting April 1, 2025, to enhance mobility and economic empowerment. Furthermore, the marriage assistance scheme has been increased from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000, providing greater financial support to women.
To improve healthcare accessibility, the government will soon roll out the Sehat App. In a major push for economic growth, an Advisory Committee for Industrial Development will be constituted to attract investment and create job opportunities.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to the Government of India for providing a special grant of ₹5000 crore and declared that 2025 will be observed as the ‘J&K Green Mission Year,’ focusing on environmental sustainability and conservation.
These initiatives highlight the government’s commitment to inclusive development, social empowerment, and economic progress in Jammu & Kashmir.
