Srinagar, July 15: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Monday termed the Srinagar Smart City project a complete failure and said that a fresh survey will be conducted to assess waterlogging and traffic congestion across the city. He made these remarks while inaugurating a new block at the Bone and Joint Hospital in Barzulla Srinagar.

The CM said that without revamping the healthcare and education systems, the development of JK would remain incomplete. “Power projects, roads, and other works come later,” he said.

Referring to the Bone and Joint Hospital, he said the facility has continued to treat patients despite major setbacks. “It was completely submerged during the 2014 floods, and again in 2022, a major fire destroyed one of its main buildings, but services never stopped,” CM said.

He noted that the hospital was inaugurated by Sher-i-Kashmir on May 15, 1982, just months before his death, making it one of the last projects associated with him. The CM added that the hospital serves patients from Pir Panjal, Rajouri, Kargil and other areas, and recalled being treated there himself after a fall.

Criticising previous administrations, he said, “They ruled for eight years in Kashmir before elections what have they done?” He added, “We are not dependent on anyone except the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Don’t underestimate us or take our politeness for weakness.”
