Questions NC’s delivery on election manifesto

Srinagar, July 26: Apni Party President Syed Altaf Bukhari on Saturday strongly criticized the National Conference (NC), questioned the implementation of the party’s election manifesto and accused it of failing to deliver on its promises.

Speaking to the reporters, Bukhari asked, “Which of the manifestos of the National Conference has been implemented?” He said political accountability cannot be evaded by citing lack of power, especially when parties knew the limitations before entering the electoral race.

“You knew from the start that you didn’t have power, yet you fought elections. Now you are taking refuge under that excuse,” he said, while hinting towards J&K CM Omar.

Explaining the typical governance cycle, Bukhari said, “When a government gets a mandate, it starts delivering from the beginning. The first two years are for delivery, the middle years for consolidation, and the last year is for announcing popular projects to gain votes. But we haven’t seen anything of that sort from the NC.”

He further stated that many people did not believe his party’s warnings in the past, but today, the public is beginning to recognize the truth of Apni Party’s earlier positions. “At that time, people didn’t believe us. But today, they say we were right,” Bukhari said.(KNO)
