Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said Saying that he himself was not worthy of the Nobel Peace prize and instead the person who resolves Kashmir dispute according to wishes of the people of Kashmir deserves it.
Taking to micro blogging social networking site twitter Imran wrote, “I am not worthy of the Nobel Peace prize. The person worthy of this would be the one who solves the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and paves the way for peace & human development in the subcontinent.”
The remark comes days after a resolution was moved in the country’s top law-making body saying Khan deserved the coveted honour.
Pakistan’s information minister, Fawad Chaudry, who submitted the resolution in parliament this weekend, said Khan had played a “sagacious role” in reducing tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
Twitter was soon abuzz with hashtags like #NobelPeaceForImranKhan after the Pakistan premier announced the release of captured Indian pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
