NEW DELHI MAR 06: Slamming BJP leader, former Dy CM Kavinder Gupta for criticising Madrasa education & saying they produce Terrorists Senior Congress leader Salman Nizami said Madrassa’s in Kashmir produce “believers and not terrorists”.
Why and for what reason BJP leader is hurling undesirable criticism against the institutions imparting ‘deeni taleem’ (religious education), when Kashmir is already in mess” he said.
Mr Gupta should read his own govt report which says that Kashmir madrasas have played no role in the ongoing separatists movement in the troubled state.
The inquiry by various security agencies had given a clean chit to Kashmir’s madrasas. The report says that madrasas have not produced even a single terrorist in the state during the last many years of the insurgency.
Nizami said Not even a single Kashmiri youth has joined the ISIS till date. Those who have joined are from other parts of India.. Such type of ‘immature’ statements from BJP leader is highly regretful and hurts the sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims.”
Nizami further said that the government should not view every Kashmiri with suspicion. Every Kashmiri is not a terrorist. This mindset of the BJP leader is deeply hurtful and frustrating for young Kashmiris trying to fashion the best lives for themselves even as a low-intensity conflict plagues the Valley,” he said. He said Kavinder believes the ideology which teaches violence, Madrassas teach Peace and love.
Nizami further said that there were no communal riots in kashmir since the students are trained as per Islam norms. “There will be no terrorists in comming years if we follow Madrassa teachings. Anyone who indulges in violence or terror is not a Muslim.
Any Muslim who follows Islam is not a terrorist because Islam is for peace and harmony,” Nizami said. Govt should begin by addressing these issues. That would be mark a significant change in Kashmir.
