Due to landslide at Kheri Udhampur, Magarkote, Digdol, on Jammu – Srinagar NHW, the movement of traffic remained affected for entire day. The road was cleared by the concerned road maintenance agency and made worthy for traffic.
The vehicles stranded at Mansar, Manwal, Flata, Sangoor, Jakheni Udhampur etc. have been cleared and allowed to proceed towards their respective destinations. It may be pertinent to mention here that the chances of occurring of sudden land slides/shooting stones between Jakheni Udhampur to Jawahar Tunnel on the NHW during night hours cannot be ruled out.
Therefore, any decision regarding allowing the movement of traffic on the NHW or otherwise shall be taken tomorrow (24.09.2018) after assessing weather and road condition. Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/ vulnerable/avalanche prone zones of NHW, especially from Jawahar Tunnel – Ramban and Jawahar Tunnel-Lower Munda under any circumstance. The said road stretches are vulnerable/slide prone zone and therefore should be kept free from all sorts of traffic to avoid any eventuality.
Tomorrow on 24.09.2018, movement of LMVs on Mughal road shall be allowed both ways viz. Buffliaz towards Shopian and vice versa. However, movement of HMVs (up to six tyres Truck only) shall be allowed one way only from Buffliaz towards Shopian side, traffic from Herpora (Shopian) and Behramgalla shall be allowed from 0900 hours to 1600 hours only. Movement of traffic shall be allowed in close coordination with concerned District Police, subject to fair weather and good condition of the road. Strict implementation of cut off timings shall be insured.
People are requested to undertake journey on Mughal road only after confirming status of the road from TCU Jammu/Srinagar.
