The authorities on Thursday did not allow fresh traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar highway due to intermittent rains and landslides in last week that left hundreds of vehicles stranded on the highway.
An official said that it was decided to clear the stranded vehicles and therefore no fresh traffic was allowed to move from Jammu to Srinagar this morning.
They said the decision to reopen the traffic on the highway will be taken later in the day after all the stranded vehicles are cleared.
Earlier, due to the intermittent rains, the landslides had struck on the highway forcing the authorities to close the traffic movement.
