The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday evening exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, leaving one person injured.
An army spokesman said that Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling with mortars and firing with small arms along LoC in Shahpur and Kerni areas of Poonch district at 7:45 am.
“Indian Army is retaliating befitting,” he said.
A police official said that a civilian was injured in the shelling. “A man identified as Muhammad Sharif suffered splinter injuries in the shelling. He was shifted to district hospital Poonch for treatment,” said the official.
