Demands for MBBS admission from current session.
Anantnag 6 April : Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today held a meeting at Government Medical College Anantnag and discussed various issues confronting medical fraternity.
The meeting was chaired by president DAK, Dr Suhail Naik and attended by all executive members of DAK south Kashmir including Dr Owais H Dar, General Secretary, Dr Fayaz Ah Bhat, Spokesperson, Dr Arshed H Trag, Dr Zakir H Shah and Dr Naseer Tak, Joint secretaries, Dr Adil Wani, District President DAK for Anantnag and Dr Mohd Yusuf Tak.
DAK showed satisfaction over the the infrastructure and human resource development at GMC Anantnag and asked for admission for MBBS Course from the upcoming academic session.
President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik said that large number of students are going for MBBS course outside the state and costs more than fifty lakhs to complete the medical graduation. The process is draining huge economy from our state and is adding to burden and hardship of parents who desire to see their children as doctors.
General secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar said that doctors are working under stressful conditions in turmoil hit state to serve the common masses and it is very unfortunate that state government has time and again failed to address the genuine demands of fraternity.
Dr Owais while raising the demand for two and half day extra salary, risk and rural allowances, security and ordinance against rowdies who on and off are damaging hospital property, said that if administration can’t not take concrete measures to address our grievences, then we may resort to state wide protests.
Dr Arshid H Trag, Joint secretary DAK said that it is pathetic that state government has miserably failed in providing in-house accomodation and canteen facilities to fraternity. Our doctors who are posted to far flung areas don’t have such facilities which has made their life miserable and many of them have developed suicidal tendencies.
He further added that all those 600 hundered doctors who are on deputation at Government Medical Colleges Hospitals Srinagar and Jammu for decades now should be now sent to far flung areas and replaced by doctors who have served in those hard and hilly areas.
Dr Mohd Yousuf Tak, convenor Jammu and Kashmir doctors coordination committee (JKDCC) assured doctors that if our demands are not met in near future , we can go extreme steps and threatened for state wide agitation. Dr Tak added he he is in continuous communication with Doctors Association Jammu, Chenab Valley Doctors Association and Ladakh Doctors Associations to chart out future strategy jointly.
Dr Adil Wani, Dist President DAK Anantnag appealed Governor led administration to operate waiting list for doctors who have been recently selected by public service commission so that human resource management in peripheral health care delivery system will get a boost. He also appealed that the creation of new dental surgeon posts need to done on fast track basis as number of unemployed dental surgeons has crosses 3000.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) requests the Hon’ble Governor of J&K, Shri Satya Pal Malik and Hon’ble Advisor for Health and Medical Education, Shri K vijay kumar to look into the long pending demands of doctors of the state submittee to Health and Medical Education Department from time to time.
