Srinagar, July 20: Hurriyat Conference (G) general secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumji chaired an advisory meeting of the amalgam at Hyderpora headquarters.
The meeting, according to a statement issued to GNS, was scheduled to be convened under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Geelani who couldn’t make it due to ill health.
Meanwhile, the meeting discussed the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed their grave concern over the deteriorating health of amalgam chairman Syed Ali Geelani. The partipants appealed people to pray for Geelani’s speedy recovery.
“The participants unanimously said that Kashmir issue is a long pending globally accepted dispute waiting its final solution. It pertains to the life and livelihood of more than 14 million people and if put to backburner it has the potential of igniting and threatening peace of not only subcontinent but the whole world,” the meeting observed.
It expressed serious concern over the alarming social evils that it said are engulfing our youth randomly in drug addiction. The participants stressed upon measures to tackle the menace.
Sumji in his presidential address said, “Our movement is going through a tough phase and only steadfastness and dedication can sail us through this turmoil.”
He expressed concern over the fast growing drug addiction in society and appealed people to collectively fight against it.
