Srinagar, Feb 25: Amid forecast of fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday said to have put in place all necessary arrangements to tackle any disruptions.
SMC Commissioner Dr. Owais Ahmad speaking with the news agency at his offices in Srinagar said that snow clearance machines and dewatering pumps have been deployed across all 35 wards of the city.
“More than 100 dewatering stations are active, and mobile pumps are also on standby for deployment when required,” he said.
He further said additional machinery would be hired if needed. “The department is fully prepared to handle the situation and will take swift action if snowfall occurs,” he added.
Meanwhile, the weather experts have predicted moderate-intensity precipitation in J&K due to a Western Disturbance. “Rain and snow will start in the higher reaches by late afternoon and extend to most parts of the region by tomorrow morning,” Independent Weather Forecaster Faizan Arif said.
He added that intermittent precipitation will continue until February 27, followed by a more intense spell on February 28.(KNO)
