Srinagar: Thousands of people Friday thronged the residence of slain militant Aadil Ahmad at his ancestral village in Kakapora area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir to attend funeral prayers in absentia.
Reports reaching Kashmir Reader said that despite severe security cover thousands of people from different villages of south Kashmir have assembled in Gundibagh Kakapora.
Aadil alias commando Waqas blew up an SUV carrying IED on a CRPF vehicle that was part of a convoy on Kashmir highway at Lethpora killing 49 CRPF personnel. The attack also left several others injured.
Soon after the attack, Jaish-e-Muhammad militant outfit claimed the attack and released a video of Aadil.
The attack has invited sharp reactions from across the world with several countries condemning the “dastardly” act.
