‘Successful G-20 event, tourism boom, massive developmental push to J&K, transparency in recruitment process, end to backdoor appointments, train from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, zojila tunnel, tunnels on Sgr-Jammu highways some achievements post 2019’
Srinagar, June 04: Lashing out at the PDP leader Mehbooba Beg for his assertions that nothing change post abrogation of Article 370, senior BJP leader and party’s J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur said that it seems that Beg was out of country since 2019 and couldn’t see what exactly changed. Thakur said that to remind the PDP leader what exactly changed, it is pertinent to mention that hartals, street protests, shutdowns, school and college closures have come to an end post 2019.
In a statement issued here, Thakur said that Beg must note that change also affected the PDP where majority of leaders deserted the party and joined other parties for survival as August 5, 2019 decision ended family rule and dynasty politics once for all. The BJP leader said that business flourished across J&K post abrogation of Article 370 and tourism touched new heights. To remind Beg, Thakurs said for the first time 1.88 Crore tourists visited J&K in 2022 while as projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore for roads were taken up across the UT.
Thakur said that for the first time in the history a successful G-20 event was held in Srinagar with the result Kashmir’s tourism got a global push. He said that for the first time in the past 32 years, terrorist was almost brought to zero as all the ranks of terrorist outfits were killed in various encounters while as local terrorist recruitment was zero for the first time. The BJP leader said that 1500 languishing projects worth Rs 2500 Crore were taken up by the UT administration as such projects were left either mid-way or never started despite proper sanctions by the government.
The BJP leader said post abrogation of article 370, Kashmir was developed in a way to ensure that train to Kanyakumari from the Valley becomes reality with world’s largest rail bridge over river Chenab. He said that if Beg really wants to know what changed, he must ask the seven lakh youth who became entrepreneurs of the past three years. Thakur said that for the first time, transparency in job recruitment became a reality as not a single person out of the 30,000 people who were provided government jobs were back door appointees.
A series of tunnels on the Srinagar-Jammu highway should be an eye-opener for Beg and the Zojila tunnel as well. Thakur said that for the first time three-tier panchayat raj system was completed in J&K with the result people are reaping the benefits of governance at their door steps while as all the major services were converted into E-mode thereby ending corruption and nepotism forever.
