Bereaved Families Extend Gratitude to District Admin, DH Handwara Management
Kupwara, Feb 02: Bodies of two elderly persons, from Karnah and Tangdhar, were on Thursday afternoon dispatched towards their native places, after being kept in mortuary at District Hospital Handwara amid blockade of roads in the respective areas in the aftermath of recent snowfall.
Officials told that the district administration responding to the appeal of bereaved family members, asking for shifting of bodies to their native places, provided ambulance services’ to assist the families.
“The ambulances had crossed Sadhna and were nearing to Nachiyan”, they said, adding it is presumed the bodies may reach their native places by or before 12:00 AM.
The bereaved family members, before leaving for respective stations, extended their gratitude to District Administration and management at DH Handwara for the extension of ambulance services.
As reported the bodies of two elderly persons; Haji Qalandar Mir (65), son of Abdul Gaffar Mir, resident of Dildar Karnah and Alamdin Khattana (60), son of Abdulla Khattana, resident of Dragad Tangdhar were kept in the hospital mortuary for last few days. While the body of Haji Qalandar, who passed away at Hamdania Colony, Bemina Srinagar, reached the hospital on January 30, 2023, the body of Alamdin Khattana reached the health facility on February 1, 2023.
Notably, the bereaved families had sought the assistance of district administration to ferry back the bodies to respective native places for last rites. (GNS)
