There are many reasons due to which marriages can get cancelled. But this incident from Uttarakhand’s Haldwani will surely leave you surprised. Turns out, the bride refused to get married because of the ‘cheap’ lehenga sent to her by the groom.
The groom, who hails from Almora, ordered a lehenga for the bride for Rs 10,000 from Lucknow. But the bride was not impressed with the cheap lehenga. The whole matter reached Haldwani Kotwali, where both the parties were sent back after a mutual agreement.
However, the groom’s family had also printed the wedding cards. When both the parties reached the police station, the ruckus increased and, with great difficulty, the parties came to an agreement thanks to the police and both the parties went to their respective homes. The settlement was made and the marriage was canceled.
While the people of the girl’s side were residents of Haldwani district in Nainital, the boy’s side were residents of Almora. Both of them got engaged in the month of June, and decided to get married in November.
