Clashes broke out between the government forces and youth on Friday near an encounter site in Gadapora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Reports said that hundreds of youth assembled near the encounter site in Gadapora village shouting pro-freedom and anti-government slogans, and pelted government forces in a bid to to disrupt the anti-militant operation.
The encounter began after a joint Army’s 34 RR, CRPF and SOG launched cordon and search operation in Ratnipora.
Earlier, an official said that exchange of firing has taken place in Gadapora between militants and goverment forces after having reliable information about the presence of some militants in the area.
One militant has been killed so far and exchange of fire is going on, officials said
