Srinagar, Dec 30: The Jammu and Kashmir region continues to shiver under intense cold as minimum temperatures plummeted across the Valley, Jammu region, and Ladakh.
Kashmir Region:
Srinagar recorded a low of -0.9°C, while Qazigund shivered at -2.8°C. The tourist hotspot Gulmarg was the coldest in the region at -10.0°C, closely followed by Sonamarg at -9.9°C. Zojila recorded a bone-chilling -25.0°C, the coldest in the region.
Other key temperatures included:
• Pahalgam: -9.2°C
• Kupwara: 0.1°C
• Kokernag: -2.1°C
• Shopian: -3.1°C
• Anantnag: -1.0°C
Jammu Region:
Despite being relatively warmer, the Jammu region also witnessed a drop in temperatures. Jammu city recorded 4.6°C, while Banihal saw a minimum of 1.7°C. Katra was slightly warmer at 6.2°C, whereas Bhaderwah and Padder recorded lows of -3.1°C and -7.0°C, respectively.
Ladakh:
Ladakh remained the coldest region with Leh at -13.2°C, Kargil at -15.3°C, and Drass at a freezing -21.8°C, highlighting the harsh winter conditions.
The ongoing cold wave is expected to persist, with more sub-zero temperatures likely in the coming days.(QNS)
