Kupwara family like incidents will be repeated, if the government fails to upgrade health care in Valley
Doctors doing the appreciable job, the administration has neglected LD
Srinagar, Jan 20: Deputy Mayor Srinagar Shiekh Imran visits Lala Ded Hospital on Sunday and discussed various issues with Resident Medical Officer (RMO) regarding the recent ‘Kupwara family incident’ and various other issues.
He visited various wards and Inpatient units of the Hospital. He also personally inspected casualty, washrooms, wards, corridors and other places in the Hospital.
Imran said doctors are doing a tremendous job by providing good care to patients. There is a lack of manpower and government should come forward to solve this basic problem in the hospital, he said.
“There is the capacity of handling 700 hundred patients in the LD hospital but on daily basis, they are receiving more than 1500 patients, that is injustice with the staff of the hospital,” he said.
He said, we need to accept the bitter truth that government has failed to improve the health care at the district level and successive governments have neglected the hospital,” Imran said.
“We have to take a strong will to change the dynamics of the hospital and upgrade the hospital as per modern lines so that justice will be done to the people,” he said.
“Two or three expecting mothers undergoing labor pain perforce sharing a single bed; the newborns kept in hospital corridors, bundled in laps of attendants,” Imran said adding the Governor administration should intervene into this crucial matter.
“Government should frame a new health policy to avoid ‘Kupwara family incident’ like cases with two weeks. There are more referrals from district hospitals; we need to upgrade those hospitals as well,” he said.
“Even monitoring room is not functioning well there to check to SOS related problems in the hospital, there should be a separate team for that but unfortunately administration has neglected that,” Imran said.
Deputy Mayor was accompanied by senior officials of SMC and corporators. Imran said he has taken up all the issues faced by the public with the concerned authorities.
“Public grievances will be solved on fast track basis by the hospital administration,” he said adding that they should also use more sign boards for the convenience of the patients.
Deputy Mayor urged hospital administrations to ensure better healthcare facilities and treatment to the patients so that they do not face any difficulty.
Meanwhile, Imran also enquired about the patient care facilities, parking, while responding to their demands, he assured them that demands will be solved on priority basis.
