A 45-year-old driver hired by ITBP was found dead under mysterious conditions at Cherkote area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Reports said that the driver Mohammad Ashraf Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat was found unconscious by the ITBP personnel of 47 B Coy inside the vehicle Tavera, bearing registration number JK01G-3835, on Wednesday at Cherkote area of Lolab.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The ITBP company to whom the driver was accompanied were deployed in Lolab for upcoming Panchayat polls.
The body of the Bhat, a resident of Bemina, was handed over to his family for last rites after all the legal medico formalities were conducted.
A police officer confirmed the incident and said the investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of death. (GNS)
