Pulwama: Combined Forces recovered an explosive laden vehicle with fake registration number in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and diffused it subsequently.
Locals said that deafening blast damaged several residential houses while it created panic in Avengund and adjoining villages of the district.
Divulging information about the incident, a police official said that on Wednesday evening a credible input was received that militants are moving in an explosive laden vehicle in Rajpora area with the intention to attack on security forces installation and vehicles.
Upon this joint MVCPs were placed at some sensitive places to intercept the suspected vehicle.
In the mean time a suspected vehicle moving on the road was noticed and was challenged to stop. However the vehicle turned towards village Avengund.
The joint teams of Combined Forces Including Police,,CRPF and Army launched search operations in general area of Rajpora and adjoining villages and had cut off the area to intercept the vehicle.
During search operation the vehicle was later found in Avengund. The vehicle was a white Santro car, bearing a false registration number. Accordingly, theBomb Disposal Squad was called in, and the load inside car looked like an IED.
“Today morning the BDS team detonated the IED in-situ considering the precarious nature of device. In this connection a case FIR No 40/2020 U/S 121 IPC Exp. Sub Act, 18 ,20 ULA(P) Act of PS Rajpora has been registered and investigation has been initiated in this instant case,”the official said. (KNT)
