Srinagar, May 08: In a tragic fire incident on Monday morning, a person living in a rented accommodation in Srinagar’s Chattabal area lost all his belongings and savings he made throughout his life by doing menial jobs.

The relatives of Ghulam Nabi Dar told that he had been living in a rented room for more than a decade and was doing a menial job to feed his family comprising six members. But the fire destroyed all his earnings and belongings and has left him helpless, said a relative.

“Whatever Dar had earned, he lost that all in the fire. He had made some savings for the purchase of a small piece of land. Now, he has nothing left; everything has been razed to ashes. He and his family are left only with the clothes they are wearing, the relative said.

His neighours said Ghulam Nabi was living a life of poverty and the locals would often come forward to extend a helping hand to the family.

Another relative said the room where Dar was living with his family is owned by the local Masjid Committee, and they are yet to make any further arrangements for the accommodation.

“Masjid Committee has offered them a room as of now but we don’t know how we are going to make it as he has a family of six members,” the relative said.(KNO)
