Srinagar, Jan 20(QNS): Kashmir witnessed a fresh spell of snow and rain late Sunday evening, bringing much-needed relief to winter enthusiasts and farmers alike. Popular tourist destinations, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Doodhpatri, were blanketed with fresh snow, enhancing their breathtaking landscapes.

As Per the News Agency Quick News Service (QNS) Reports that Gulmarg and Sonamarg received 2 inches of fresh snowfall, while Doodhpatri recorded around 1 inch of snow by 10:00 p.m. The upper reaches, including Zojila Pass and Yousmarg, also reported significant snowfall, creating ideal conditions for winter tourism and adventure sports.

Meanwhile, the plains of north Kashmir, including Handwara, Kupwara, Baramulla, Sopore, and Bandipora, experienced light rainfall, marking a wet and chilly night for residents.

The fresh snowfall has rekindled the hopes of the tourism industry, with visitors expected to flock to these picturesque destinations in the coming days. Authorities have advised travelers to exercise caution while venturing into higher altitudes due to slippery road conditions.

This winter spell has also been welcomed by the agricultural community, as the precipitation is vital for maintaining water reserves and ensuring adequate irrigation for the upcoming planting season.

Meanwhile The meteorological department forecasts continued light to moderate snow and rain in parts of the region over the next 24 hours.(QNS)
