Says despite provocation from across, some political parties in Kashmir, people preffered to defeat anti-peace elements, police played significant role to maintain law and order

Srinagar, Sep 7: Bhartiya Janata Party JK spokesman Altaf Thakur today hailed the people of Kashmir for keeping the peace intact and not falling prey to the hands of vested interests who tried to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the wake of death of senior Seperatist leader Syed Ali Geelani.

In a statement issued here, Thakur said that Pakistan tried its best to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir on the demise of Geelani. He said even  some political parties also tried to provoke people by raising hollow slogans but people remained steadfast and stood with the peace  defeating all moves made by Pakistan and its stooges in Kashmir.

Thakur saiid that people of Kashmir have understood that violence leads to destruction, loss of lives and property and that they preferred to keep the peace intact by copperating with the police on all fronts.

The BJP leader said that police also played an important role by maintaining law and order and by acting in a people friendly manner. He said people of Valley have realised that violence leads to nowhere and that they want Kashmir to development was the only way forward. Thakur urged the people to work for strengthening peace and ensure contribute for the development of Kashmir.
