The Government of India today declared Jamaat-e-Islami as the unlawful association citing a series of.reasons including the one they JEI supports militants and secession of Kashmir. “Centre has declared JEI as an unlawful association under section 3 of the Unlawful activities (prevention act, 1967),” reads an official order.of the ministry of home affairs.
According to KNO correspondent the order issued by MHA, that ‘if JeI’s activities are not curbed and controlled immediately, it’s likely to escalate its subversive activities including attempt to carve out an islamic State out of the territory of Union of India by destabilising the Government established by law.’
It also states that they also dispute the accession of J&K with India and are anti national, and escalate secessionist movement, support militancy, and incite violence in the country. The order will remain imposed for the period of five years from the date of publication.
