Srinagar, Feb 20: Jammu and Kashmir’s Grand Mufti, Mufti Nasir ul Islam, has formally requested the intervention of the Director General of Police (DGP) regarding the increasing presence of fake religious preachers for spreading hate and creating sectarian divisions in the region.
In a letter addressed to the Director General of Police, Mufti Nasir ul Islam expressed deep concern over individuals misusing religious platforms and fake online accounts to disturb communal harmony. He urged authorities to take immediate action to curb the spread of divisive rhetoric and ensure peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
“This is a serious issue that requires urgent intervention. The spread of hate speech through fake Moulvis and preachers threatens the social fabric of our society,” the letter states.
The Grand Mufti has called upon law enforcement agencies to take cognizance of the matter and implement necessary measures regarding the matter in the larger interest of the society.
