A gunfight broke out between the militants and the government forces on Saturday in Aripal village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Reports said that the forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Aripal village of Tral after inputs about the presence of around three militants.
An official said that the gunfight broke out after the hiding militants opened fire on a forces’ party.
A source said that a top Hizb commander is believed to be trapped in the village.
Internet service was blocked in entire Pulwama district soon after the searches were launched.
Meanwhile, massive clashes erupted in Aripal and adjoining villages.
Reports said that youth took to streets and hurled stones on the forces deployed in the area. The forces responded by firing tear gas.
