We expect the heatwave to strengthen further over the next few days. Temperatures are likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius

Srinagar, June 19(QNS): The ongoing heatwave gripping Jammu and Kashmir is expected to worsen in the coming days, with temperatures likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological (MeT) Department.

According to the News Agency Quick News Service (QNS) The MeT department has cautioned residents about intensifying heat conditions across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Daytime temperatures are already hovering well above normal, especially in the plains, where mercury levels have surged past seasonal averages.

“We expect the heatwave to strengthen further over the next few days. Temperatures are likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across several districts,” an official from the department said.

However, the MeT has offered a glimmer of hope, predicting possible relief from the extreme weather conditions after June 21. A change in the prevailing weather pattern is expected to bring down temperatures and provide much-needed respite to the region.

Health officials have urged the public to take necessary precautions during peak hours, especially the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. People are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun, and limit outdoor activities between noon and 4 PM.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are expected to issue further advisories as the weather pattern evolves.(QNS)
