Srinagar, Feb 27(QNS): The ongoing spell of rain and snow is expected to continue across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir for the next 12 hours, with heavy snowfall predicted in the higher reaches. The plains of Kashmir are also likely to witness more snowfall as the current weather system persists.

According to Weatherman, the intensity of precipitation is expected to remain high in the upper reaches, potentially leading to disruptions in road and air traffic. Key areas, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam, are likely to receive significant snowfall, while lower elevations may witness a mix of rain and snow.

Authorities have urged residents, especially those in snow-prone regions, to take necessary precautions. Travelers have been advised to check for weather and traffic updates before planning their journeys, as road connectivity to several remote areas may be affected.

However, relief is on the horizon, as the weather is expected to improve from tomorrow afternoon onwards. The gradual clearing of skies will bring respite to residents, and temperatures are likely to stabilize.

Meanwhile, officials have assured that snow clearance operations are underway in affected areas to ensure minimal disruption to daily life.(QNS)
