A high alert has been sounded across Kashmir in the wake of a deadly Fidayeen attack on a central reserve police force convoy in Lethpora area along the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Thursday, officials said.
A top CRPF officer, who wished not to be named, said an alert is sounded after every militant attack.
“We have passed fresh directions to heads of all security installations across the Valley to remain extra alert,” he said.
A senior police officer said they have put all their vital installations on “alert mode” following the attack in Lehtpora.
“Such an alert is sounded because there is always a possibility that militants may carry out more attacks. To prevent a repeat of such attacks, maintaining an extra level of alertness is always advisable,” he said.
He said the police have taken up investigations while samples collected from the site of the attack have been sent for forensic examination.
“The samples include remnants of the vehicle, believed to be used during the attack, to find out the nature of the explosives used to target the CRPF convoy,” the officer said.
