Srinagar, Oct 22 : Union Home minister Amit Shah arriving tomorrow here in Jammu and Kashmir Union territory, will flag off the first Srinagar-Sharjah direct flight.
Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow to 25th October.
This is his first visit to the valley since August 5, 2019, when he piloted the bills in parliament to end Jk’s special status, its statehood and create Ladakh as a separate Union Territory.
Official sources said that Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the first Srinagar-Sharjah flight from the Srinagar International Airport on October 23, tomorrow.
Director Srinagar Airport, Kuldeep Singh also confirmed that in the evening the Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the Srinagar-Sharjah flight.
The much-awaited direct flight connecting Srinagar and Emirates has brought cheer to air travellers and the trade community of Kashmir.
The first announcement regarding the direct Srinagar-Sharjah flight was made by the Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia during his Kashmir visit last month.
Meanwhile, according to official sources Home Minister is likely to address a public rally in Jammu on 24th besides he is also to chair a meeting of the unified command in the valley.This unified command meet will likely to be attended by Intelligence Bureau chief Arvind Kumar, Director General (DG) of CRPF Kuldiep Singh, DG of National Security Guard MA Ganapathy, DG of Border Security Force Pankaj Singh, DG of J&K Police Dilbagh Singh, Army commanders and other officials. The Inspector General of Jammu Police and Inspector General of Kashmir Police will be present.
Officials said he will also meet representatives of various industry bodies during his stay in the valley.
Sources also said that Amit Shah will also lay foundation stones of two medical colleges.
Sources said Shah will arrive first in Srinagar on Saturday accompanied by the Home Secretary AK Bhalla, other senior officials of the Home Ministry, heads of most of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the intelligence agencies including the IB.
“The Home Minister will review various developmental projects under the Prime Minister’s package in addition to a scheduled interaction with Panchayat Raj representatives including Panchs, Sarpanchs, BDC and DDC members”.
Union Minister of State (PMO), Jitendra Singh who arrived in Jammu on Friday reviewed the arrangements. (KINS)
