Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for calling himself a ‘Chowkidar’ of the Indian citizens.
In a tweet, Mehbooba Mufti said that it was ironic that economic offenders like Vijay Mallya , Mehul Choski, Nirav Modi all fled under the prime minister’s watch.
“Poke as much fun as you want, but if there’s one thing the PM has mastered over the years, it’s the art of marketing and creating campaigns that resonate with the masses. The irony obviously is that Vijay Mallya , Mehul Choski, Nirav Modi all fled under this chowkidars watch,” Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
It comes after Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘#MainBhiChowkidar’ campaign on Twitter became a top worldwide trend on the micro-blogging site, on Saturday. And this happened within hours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching it in the morning.
The tweet, in no time, garnered more than 25,000 retweets and 75,000 likes.
In the tweet, PM Modi said, “Your Chowkidar is standing firm and serving the nation. But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying – #MainBhiChowkidar.”
Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation.
