Srinagar, Nov 25: Cold weather conditions continued in Jammu and Kashmir with Srinagar recording minus 1.0°C on Saturday, officials said.
So far the mercury plummeted to season’s lowest in the summer capital of J&K at minus 1.8°C on November 22.
A meteorological department official told that while the temperature decreased from yesterday’s 0.9°C, it was 0.1°C above normal for this time of the year in Srinagar.
Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 0.8 °C against minus 0.2°C on the previous night, he said. The minimum temperature was minus 0.9°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, the official said.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 3.4°C against minus 3.3°C on the previous night and it was 1.0°C below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 1.5°C which was above normal for the place by 0.6°C, the official said.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.5°C which was 0.5°C below normal there, the official said.
Gulmarg, the official said, recorded a low of minus 1.0°C and it was 2.1°C below normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir.
Jammu recorded a minimum of 9.3°C which was below normal by 2.2°C for the winter capital of J&K, he said.
Regarding the forecast, he said, weather is likely to be partly to generally cloudy during next 24 hours.
From November 27-28, he said, weather is expected to be generally cloudy. Also from November 29-30, generally is likely to be cloudy with possibility of light rain/snow at isolated higher reaches.
From December 1-5, he said, weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy. He said Shallow to moderate fog is likely to continue till November 28 over many places of Kashmir division. (GNS)
