Srinagar, Jan 21: A woman who was hospitalised following a suffocation incident in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district breathed her last at a hospital today.
Her son had died due to asphyxiation on January 2 in the Gudder area of Kulgam.
The deceased, Fameeda Akhter, and her 25-year-old son, Nisar Ahmad Khan, were found unconscious on January 2 at their home in Gudder due to suffocation caused by charcoal fire fumes.
They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors referred them to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
“Unfortunately, Nisar Ahmad lost his life two days after the incident, and despite prolonged treatment, his mother, Fameeda Akhter, passed away today,” an official said, as per JKNS.
With this death, the number of people who have lost lives to asphyxiation in Jammu and Kashmir this winter has mounted to 20.
