The Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) continued the demolition drive in the area Batpora Nehrupark and Abi Karpora Dal Lake in which one single storey structure and a wooden shed were demolished by the demolition team which were raised illegally by some unscrupulous elements while taking advantage of the prevailing situation, were removed by the enforcement wing of LAWDA during the demolition drive.
According to Enforcement Officer LAWDA, two structures were demolished inside the Dal Lake. A few selfish people are taking advantage of the situation and constructing illegal constructions.
Therefore, we have started a demolition drive in which we have even succeeded to some extent. As I have already said, this (Dal Lake) is a part of our civilization and culture and we are dependent on it.
“So, I would like to request people to support us in saving it and to restrict themselves from indulging in illegal construction of buildings, also the demolition drive will continue with full vigour to remove all the illegal structures including palatial huts that have come up along the non-permissible zone in the catchment area of Dal Lake.” said Enforcement Officer.
Enforcement officer said legal action was also initiated against the owners of houses and other structures which have come up in violation of the Master Plan in and around the Lake.
