Mahindra has already confirmed that Mahindra Thar 5-door launch will take place in 2024. #Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to be a much more successful product in the Indian market than the Thar 3-door, due to the practicality, space and size.
While the Mahindra Thar has only been offered with a 3-door layout since its inception in 2010, we already know that the manufacturer is working on a 5-door version of the lifestyle SUV to further increase its practicality and attract more buyers.
Yet another test mule of the Mahindra Thar 5-door has been spied on test, revealing its new LED headlights this time around. The 3-door Thar is offered with halogen headlamps, however, this test mule of the Thar 5-door is equipped with LED units with ring-shaped DRLs. The alloy wheel design also looks slightly different from the one seen on the Thar 3-door.
The 5-door version of the SUV will likely be offered with a hard-top only, unlike the 3-door iteration which is also offered with a convertible soft-top option. The 5-door Thar will obviously be positioned above the 3-door Thar in Mahindra’s lineup, which is probably the reason why test mules have been captured with a ton of new features over the regular Thar. Previous prototypes have also revealed the addition of features like a new headliner, a front armrest, a sunglass holder, and even an electric sunroof over the 3-door Thar!
That said, the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door will likely also be offered with the same 2.2-litre diesel (128 hp) and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (150 hp) engine options, with both automatic and manual transmissions. What’s more, the 5-door version of the SUV will also likely get the optional 4×2 configuration along with 4×4. The 3-door Thar is currently priced from Rs 10.98 lakh to Rs 16.94 lakh (ex-showroom), while the 5-door Thar will come at a premium over that.
