Srinagar, Dec 29: Cold wave conditions persist across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, with sub-zero temperatures recorded in many areas.
Kashmir Region:
The famous tourist destinations of Gulmarg and Sonamarg bore the brunt of the freezing weather, recording minimum temperatures of -8.5°C and -10.8°C, respectively. The coldest spot, however, was Zojila Pass at a bone-chilling -26.0°C.

• Pahalgam: -8.0°C
• Kupwara: -1.0°C
• Anantnag: 0.1°C
• Shopian: -2.3°C
Jammu Region:
Despite relatively milder conditions, cold weather prevailed in the plains and hilly areas. Jammu city recorded a low of 6.1°C, while the hill town of Bhaderwah dipped to *-5.0°C.

• Katra: 5.0°C
• Padder: -7.9°C
• Kathua: 7.2°C
Ladakh:
The region experienced severe winter conditions, with Leh recording -11.6°C, and Drass, the second coldest inhabited place in the world, touching a frigid -20.7°C.
Residents are advised to take precautions and ensure adequate heating arrangements as temperatures are likely to remain low in the coming days.(QNS)
