Srinagar, Mar 13(QNS): The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a scheduled power shutdown in multiple areas across Kashmir for maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. The shutdown, approved by the Chief Engineer (Distribution), will take place on various dates from March 16 to March 24, 2025, affecting several key regions.
According to the official notification, the shutdown will impact areas served by the Nihalpora, Amargarh, Vilgam, Pampore, and other power stations. The outages, ranging from a few hours to a full day, are necessary for the replacement of aging wooden poles, erection of ST poles, and installation of new equipment for better power stability.
The affected regions include Pattan, Sopore, Bandipora, Achabal, Vilgam, and parts of Pampore, among others. The shutdown schedule details that the power outage will last between 1 to 6 hours, depending on the work being carried out.
Officials have assured the public that all safety measures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be strictly followed during the maintenance period. However, they have also stated that the schedule is subject to fair weather conditions.
Consumers in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and plan their activities accordingly.(QNS)
