Srinagar: A protest was held in Srinagar’s press colony against the rape of a three year old girl of Sumbal area of Bandipora.

According to reports scores of youth from various areas of Srinagar while holding placards and banners in their hands with the messages like “Girls are not toys”, “Hang the rapist Tahir Ahmad”, “RIP Humanity and “We want Justice” demanded stern punishment against the culprit.

“What sort of a man does such a thing to a three year old girl. This is absolutely insane. He should be hanged. I don’t understand the logic behind keeping him in jail.” Said a protester who identified himself as Rizwan Malik.

The protesters also alleged that some people are trying to shield the culprit. They appealed J&K governor Satya Paul Malik and Director General of Police to take stringent action against the culprit.

Protests were also held in north Kashmir areas on Friday demanding severe punishment to the culprit who allegedly raped a three year old girl.

Locals took to streets in Sumbal, Chenabal and other areas of north Kashmir demanding stern action against the rapist.

A three year old girl in Bandipora was allegedly raped by a local boy at village.

The incident took place at Malikpora, Trehgam area of Sumbal in Bandipora district.

Police in its FIR had said that the accused was 20 years old.

Acting on complaint of the victim’s family, police arrested the accused, identified as Tahir Ahmad Mir (20), son of Abdul Rehman Mir resident of Malikpora, Trehgam, Sumbal.
